There is a view that children who often take part in outdoor activities have a tendency to sharpen their life skills more than that of reading books. I fully agree with this statement for several reasonable factors.
One possible reason has to do with developing communication skills. This is because this feature is considered to be vitally important in one’s life and can only be fostered by spending more time with other children outdoors. From my own experience, for example, I was naturally an introverted person, but I became more sociable and communicative through spending most of my time on pursuing active hobbies – cycling, swimming, and playing hide-and-seek with my friends.
Cooperation is another essential trait that can solely be developed through being outdoors in the circle of many individuals. Since many children tend to be energetic and enthusiastic, they are frequently passionate about going out and playing team games with their friends in order to have some fun and uplift their spirit. These games range from playing ball games to sharing toys.
Last but not least, flexibility is also a significant human characteristic that has a role to play in one’s life. That is, people who are flexible tend to be outgoing and curious, thereby often dealing with important issues more effectively by making rational decisions. Flexible individuals are especially highly valued and appreciated by large business companies where they play an essential part in reaching final decisions.
To conclude, I am still of the firm opinion that life skills can exclusively be acquired by dedicating much of one’s time to active pastimes.
