The graph below shows the percentage of Australian exports to 4 countries from 1990 to 2012

The given line graph illustrates the percentage of Australian exports to four countries—Japan, the US, China, and India—between 1990 and 2012.

Overall, exports to China and India showed an increasing trend, while exports to Japan and the US declined over the period. Among these, China experienced the most significant growth, whereas Japan saw the most notable decline.

In 1990, Japan was the leading destination for Australian exports, accounting for nearly 27%. However, this figure steadily declined over the years, dropping to around 17% by 2012. Similarly, exports to the US also decreased, fluctuating slightly but ultimately falling from about 11% in 1990 to below 5% in 2012.

On the other hand, exports to China showed a remarkable rise. Starting at a very low percentage in 1990, they gradually increased until the early 2000s, after which the growth accelerated sharply, reaching nearly 27% by 2012—surpassing Japan. Exports to India also saw an upward trend, though more gradual, rising from almost zero in 1990 to approximately 7% in 2012.
