The extinction of some animals has become a natural phenomenon in recent years. Some people therefore believe that they should not do anything to cease this from occurring. I personally disagree with this viewpoint for three main factors.
One clear reason why humans ought to protect animal species from vanishing is linked to experimentation. This is because some animals like rats and rabbits are often used for experimental purposes to test the relevance of vaccines or drugs to mankind. To illustrate, before prescribing medicines to people, they are tested to different animal creatures for safety grounds. Covid-19 pandemic can be a good case in point, in which some animal species are experimented with various doses of vaccines.
Another, albeit equally important, reason why we should preserve animals from extinction is that they act as a source of food to one another. Take deer and zebras as an example. Almost all carnivorous animals prey on them to feed themselves and their families. Unless people attempt to save the lives of animal species which are being endangered, the chances are that other creatures (mainly carnivorous ones) may also become extinct.
Last but not least, human beings should be in charge of keeping every type of animal species alive, as each of them is unique and has an ability to entertain people of all ages. For example, koalas and kangaroos are on the verge of extinction, since they can be found only in the territory of Australia. In order to preserve their species, I think people should shoulder the responsibility of placing them in their artificial habitats or zoos which, in turn, can assist in entertaining people.
All in all, the disappearance of animal species indeed occurs by nature. However, I argue that we, as humans, should be responsible for protecting them, for they are useful in research, entertainment and food chain.
